W3C Office Finnish W3C Office

Tietotalo building and Nordic map The W3C Office in Finland is situated at the Tampere University of Technology (TUT). The office is managed by the Hypermedia laboratory of the TUT.

TUT has approximately 12000 students and 1800 people work at the University. In 2004, TUT's total funding was around 105 million euros. Approximately 50 per cent of the funding consisted of external funding from sources such as Tekes, industry, the Academy of Finland and EU projects.

Geographically, Tampere is centrally located in Finland (170km north-west from the capital city Helsinki) with good transport connections, including international airline connections. Tampere is a vital and very rapidly growing point in the Finnish it-sector. The two universities, Tampere University of Technology and University of Tampere, are both active members in the region offering high quality in training.
